College Fleur Doll

catalogue # 385 - 1021, year 1986

body: non-ballerina (no bending elbows or ankles), legs move to front and back (not side)

hair: blonde, red, brunette, centre part, side ponytail tied with white ribbon

shoes: red running shoes

My NRFB College Fleur doll wears a peach sweater, while my first College Fleur doll (deboxed) wears a pink sweater. The promo photo shows a yellow sweater, although I haven't seen it in real life - perhaps it's just 80s photography? Her accessory is a white shoulder bag (probably for her school books).

This Fleur comes with an EXTRA FOR YOU! It's a beautiful small clipboard with a lined notepad, eraser and pencil. These items are really well made and worth looking for to complete your set.

Colour Star Fleur Doll

catalogue # 385 - 1004, year 1985

body: ballerina (bending elbows and ankles)

hair: platinum blonde with colour streak in front, curls, no parting

shoes: sandals or running shoes

Colour Star Fleur doll is here to steal the spotlight from all your other Fleurs! If you imagine her onstage in some dance extravaganza, you're not wrong - this doll is an indirect tribute to a popular 1980s Dutch dance group called Penney de Jager Ballet. They were especially famous for dancing to pop hits on a TV show TopPop (you can find many of their videos on YouTube). One of the print ads for this Fleur included a coupon to 'win a day with Penney de Jager Ballet'. I think it's a great way to introduce children to the world of ballet.

Colour Star Fleur comes in a choice of three outfits - yellow, red or blue. Her dress always matches the colour streak in her hair.  The blue and yellow outfit have a red leotard, and the red outfit has a purple leotard. My boxed Fleur wears matching sandals, but in the promo photo (top left) she wears running shoes. The photo in the middle row shows all parts of the complete Colour Star outfit - tights, leotard, dress and legwarmers.

Country Walk Fleur Doll

catalogue # 385 - 1010, year 1987

body: non-ballerina (no bending elbows or ankles), legs move to front and back (not side)

hair: blonde, platinum blonde, red, centre part

shoes: white running shoes

Country Walk Fleur wears a beautiful plaid coat, with a collar lined in blue nylon. Her belt (which closes with velcro at the back) is made from the same blue nylon, and so are her pants. Under the coat, she wears an orange short-sleeve top.

In the promo photo, she has a brown dog, but this dog has never been seen. Sindy has a similar dog, but it's not exactly the same. My two boxed dolls have the usual black-and-white Fleur dog, plus a brown leash.

The box has a pink label advertising Country Walk Fleur's 'silky soft hair'. I have this doll in platinum blonde and blonde. In the promo photo, her hair is red. I have never seen this doll as a brunette. The only other Fleur with this lovely platinum blonde hair is Sweet Dreams Fleur doll.

Disco Fleur Doll

catalogue # 385 - 1005, year 1980

body: 1970s body with long legs, tiny waist and small hands

hair: blonde, strawberry blonde, brunette, centre part

shoes: silver heels, worn only by this doll

According to pop culture, disco ended in July 1979 - this beautiful Fleur was probably in production at that time. She's dressed for a night on the dance floor, in true 1970s style - halter-top jumpsuit in hot pink satin, big necklace and silver headband. Her white jacket and belt have a touch of silver sparkle. Even her box was unusual with its striped pink border. She's having so much fun - blame it on the boogie!

Dungaree Fleur Doll

catalogue # 385 - 1000, year 1983

body: 1970s body with long legs, tiny waist and small hands, bending ankles

hair: blonde, strawberry blonde, brunette, centre part

shoes: black or white flat shoes with a bow

'Dungaree' isn't really the official name of this Fleur doll, but everyone calls her this because of her outfit. She also has no official promo photo, so instead enjoy a photo of her (busy with laundry) from a 1983 catalogue, where she is described as 'promotion Fleur'.

Dungaree Fleur has a face unlike any other Fleur doll, and also a very unusual body - her arms are soft rubber instead of hard plastic, and her ankles bend with a wire inside (the only other Fleur with a 1970s body and bending ankles is Skistar Fleur). Her head is very large with a high forehead. But the funniest thing about her is her eye makeup (what were they DOING in the Fleur factory?). Please visit my blog where you'll see this makeup madness, and more pictures of Dungaree Fleur in a dedicated topic
