1201 Shopping

Going by the numbers, this is Fleur's first ever outfit - # 1201, called 'Shopping' in the 1978 catalogue. It's a cute knee-length red pinafore dress with a plaid pattern, worn over a simple white turtleneck shirt with long sleeves. The shirt closes with two snap buttons at the back. This outfit is almost exactly the same as one of the budget fashions #1254 - only the shirt fabric and the dress pattern are slightly different.

Accessories: white shoulder bag with red trim, white ribbon for the hair

Shoes: white sandals

1202 Walking

Fleur's outfit 1202 is called 'Walking' in the 1978 catalogue. And sure - it is great for walking. It's a cream jumpsuit with a wide 70s collar, and decorative brown stitching on the front, which matches the shoes nicely. The belt is made of thin shiny vinyl.

Fun fact: in the promo photo, Fleur has a red bag - but this bag is not in the box, and there is no evidence it has been removed from the box. In the catalogue photo at bottom right, she also has no bag.

Accessories: red hat, red ribbon for the neck, red belt

1203 Travel

This outfit is called 'Travel' in the 1978 catalogue - and it has a strong 'look at me!' vibe. This fabulous two-piece set of long-sleeved jacket and bell-bottom pants is made from fire-truck-red cotton, and accented with white accessories. The wide-brimmed hat is the best part of the outfit.

Fun fact: in the promo photo and in the box, the bag is white with a red button - but in the catalogue photo (top row right) the bag is red with a white button. Maybe there were two?

1204 Free Time

Wide-collar shirt, vest and head scarf - the three essentials of 1970s style are here in Fleur's outfit #1204 - called 'Free Time' in the 1978 catalogue. The beautiful fabric of the shirt and head scarf - bright red with tiny flowers - is unmistakably Fleur's. Over the shirt - a black vest with red trim, and on the bottom - a black knee-length skirt with one red stripe.

Fun fact 1: the box is mistakenly labelled 1212 - it was possibly designed and sold earlier than originally planned.

Fun fact 2: the vest is so tiny, it hardly fits an 80s Fleur (see outfit on doll bottom left photo). It looks much better on a 1970s Fleur - she has a smaller upper body..

Accessories: red shoulder bag with one black button, triangular headscarf

1205 Horse-Riding

Fleur fashion #1205 is an elegant set called 'Horse-Riding' - a black jacket with one white button at the waist, and white pants with black inserts at the knees. It's Fleur's first jockey outfit, with three more released in later years - outfit 1267, outfit 1280, and Amazone Fleur doll.

Fun fact 1: this outfit is often confused with outfit 1267. To see the detailed comparison, read my blog post dedicated to these two outfits. Their major difference is jacket and hat fabrics, and the shape of patches on the pants.

Fun fact 2: the box of this outfit is smaller than other boxes from this era. The back of the box (top right pic) shows outfit 1205, and then outfits 1218 to 1222, which is unusual. Maybe this outfit was sold in 1978 and again in the early 1980s, or maybe it was never sold in 1978 at all?

1206 Ballroom

In the official photos (top row), Fleur is modelling her outfit #1206 in the bedroom and in the kitchen - but it is definitely NOT for sleeping or cooking. This fashion is called 'Ballroom' and should be worn to a romantic dance or a garden party.

It's a floor-length dress of white fabric topped with a layer of beautiful pink flower lace. The dress has a Victorian feel with a high collar, gorgeous ruffles around the neck, and long sleeves gathered at the wrist. The big hat is made of the same lace, with a beautiful crinkled edge.

In the photos below, you can see four fabric variations of this dress, and maybe more exist. In the middle right photo taken from the 1979 catalogue, Fleur is holding her classic silver handbag - maybe it was part of this outfit?

1207 Galadress

Fleur outfit 1207 is a simple yet gorgeous evening gown called "Galadress'. The gown is made of two parts - a white top with silver thread stitched through, and a floor-length skirt of glittering white fabric. The dress closes at the back with one snap button at the waist. The halter-top neckline is a true 70s fashion touch.

Unfortunately, like all outfits form this period, this beautiful dress is paired with ugly white sandals. High heels would look so much better!

I would love a clear picture of the promo photo on the front of the outfit box (which I found on the internet) - if anyone has it, please send me a message  :) I would love to add it to this page.

1208 Knitted Set

This is Fleur's first winter knitwear! Outfit # 1208 is a cosy set of white sweater with a red stripe across the chest and sleeves, worn over white pants with two red stripes at the bottom. And for Fleur's head - a cute white hat with a red pom-pom. This fashion is called Knitted Set in the 1978 catalogue.

Fun fact 1: in the promo photo, Fleur has no bag, but in the catalogue photo (bottom left), she does. Until we see a boxed example, we won't know for sure if this outfit comes with a bag.

Fun fact 2: we don't know for sure which shoes go with this outfit, but in the catalogue photo she is wearing red knee-high riding boots, so that's our only clue.

1209

So, Fleur outfit 1209 - it's one of Fleur's unsolved mysteries. For many years, we thought 1209 was the red and yellow beach fashion, but after the discovery of the Beach Fleur doll box, outfit 1209 became a mystery again. Maybe it was designed but never produced? Maybe Otto Simon skipped a number by accident (they had a few numbering accidents)? If you have any information about this outfit, please share it via the contact form :) Fleur fans would love to know!
